The Headland Hotel Newquay Wedding | Farrah & Lee

24th December, 2013
I only got to meet Farrah and Lee for the first time a couple of months ago, as it was Tamsyn who first met them at a wedding open day at "The Headland Hotel" where they were to be married. We went for a little photo shoot in the woods to break the ice as Lee confessed he feels really awkward in front of a camera. But after our time together, I knew that their wedding was going to be the real grand finale to an awesome year of weddings, and I wasn't let down.

Being as their wedding was on the winter solstice and Tams was doing the bridesmaids and Dot (Farrah's Mums) make up we had an early start, arriving with the girls at 6:45am quite a way before sunrise. I left them and met the boys at the hotel. The plan was to capture the boys having an early morning swim while the sun came up but due the the weather they decided not to do it, so we went in search for a breakfast. I took them up to Lewinnick Lodge as the breakfasts and views are amazing. We then got a few shots on the headland behind the pub, and then I made my way back to the girls after dropping the boys back at the hotel.

It was a hive of activity when I arrived back at the house where the girls were getting ready, with hair and make up going on.

Farrah's dress was a real pleasant surprise when I opened the bag, as she went for a lacy knee length number that she bought in "JC Brides" in her home town of Portsmouth. I wasn't expecting that at a winter wedding, but she looked AMAZING!

Dixie who was the best man and also Lee's father surprised Farrah by hiring a wedding car for the very short drive to the hotel, as the girls were getting ready at Fistral House just outside of the hotel gates. So I captured Farrah getting into the car and then legged it to the hotel. I did laugh to myself, I was going to ask Bill (Her dad) if he felt like the president having a shooter running along side the car!

The ceremony was a beautiful and emotional affair, filled with fun laughter and tears, which took place in the hotel's ballroom.

After an impromptu receiving line everyone went into the Fistral Suite for champers and canapés. But Farrah and Lee felt the need to get some air, so I suggested we pop out then, for some couple shots as the weather was beautiful and was due to turn later, that and the fact that it would be dark by the time they'd finished their wedding breakfast.
So I took them to the other side of Fistral beach to get some shots with the hotel in the background without getting sandy and blown away.

When we got back to the hotel we did the bigger groups out the front of the hotel and then the rest inside as people were walking off due to the cold weather. Then I had ten minutes to get some shots of the wedding breakfast room set up before everyone headed in there.

For their cake they went for one of "Truly scrumptious cakes by Becky"s signature chocolate towers!

After the speeches, I saw what was the last final glimpse of a sunset so we slipped outside and it was blowing a hooly, so we didn't stay outside for too long before getting more shots around the magnificent hotel.

After some fun and games outside with sparklers it was time for the first dance.

Farrah and Lee, you truly are an awesome couple, who totally deserved a spectacular day which I hope you got. It was such an honour being part of it, and thank you for rounding off our year so perfectly. You truly are special people and I'm honoured to call you new friends. Tamsyn and I wish you a long, happy and healthy life together.

Love
